Comfy Beds

About 9 years ago my husband and I went to New York City for an overnight visit.  We were visiting my in-laws in Philadelphia and we decided to visit NYC for a day and overnight.  My husband has expensive tastes and booked us a room in the W Hotel.  I must add that the rooms in NYC are tiny, its obvious building space is at a minimum and they use every inch of the room they can.  Our room wasn't very large.  So we settle in with our bags and take off to explore NYC since it was the first time I was ever there.  It was quiet for the 4th of July weekend, mostly because people in the city go out to the shore or the Hamptons.  It was also July 2002 and the city was still under high alert, which discouraged a lot of tourists.

We had a fun time walking around and then we decided to go back to our room in the late afternoon to freshen up before our swanky dinner and night out.  We both were pooped from walking miles that day and plopped ourselves down on the bed.  Ohh, the bed!  It was the most fabulous bed I had ever planted myself on.  You just melted into the bed and it was like what you think sleeping on a fluffy cloud would feel like.  It was just that good.  We both passed out and waking up was not easy because you just became so relaxed.  Most people like to steal towels or robes from hotels, I wanted this bed!  Unfortunately, it didn't fit in my overnight bag, damn!
The W Hotel Pillow Top Mattress!

I have never come across such a blissful bed in my life.  We purchased a pillow top mattress for home (not a W Hotel one) and its nice but I can tell you it does not compare in any way to the the W Hotel's mattress.

This weekend my niece got married.  It was a wonderful wedding and so much fun.  The wedding was in our home town. Since both of my children were in the wedding and they are only 5 and 3 years old and the reception was downtown, my husband and I didn't want the worry of driving home after a drink or two so we got a room downtown.  About 9 years ago the Hyatt renovated space in an area called the Arcade.  Not a typical set up for a hotel, but it was really nice.  After a long day, we slip into the bed and I was like "OH MY GOD" this bed is awesome.  It was just like the W Hotel bed.  I felt like I just melted into the bed - I was in Heaven!  My kid's shared a bed and I can tell you, they slept hard that night.  I think they too melted into the bed and didn't want to get up.  We had to pry them awake at 9:45am.  It took everything to get myself out of bed because I wanted to stay there forever.  So today I'm wondering if it would be weird and creepy if I just hung out at the old Arcade and snuck in a room to take a nap this afternoon.

There is something about a comfy bed that makes life so good!

  1. We feel the SAME way!! We got a Chirosense (I think that's the name) the week we moved into this house and it is THE most amazing bed ever! We've had people stay here when they watch the kids and everyone agrees it's the best bed they've ever slept on. SO, next time you're in the market - check them out. We bought ours at Basista.
