The Simple Things in Life ...

I'm not feeling stellar today - sort of down for the count with a nasty upper respiratory/sinus situation.  I didn't really get to spend much time with my kid this morning before they left for school, Jon was so kind to take them both to school for me so I could get some R&R.

It was special visitors day at Donovan's school today and he was snack leader which is a pretty big deal for a 3 1/2 year old.  He gets to be "first" in all the activities and before he leaves for the day he gets to take home a balloon.  The combination of having my parents (His local set of grandparents) be his special visitor and being snack leader was more than a little boy could dream of!  I didn't get to go to be apart of the "special visitors" because of being sick.  When Donovan came home from school I realized that I missed him.  We always have a good 45 minutes after dropping Norah off at school and before his class starts - so we have our little "special time" together.  I couldn't help but give him a big hug.

So my day was looking up.

Donovan walks to the front door and manages to find a package that I managed to not see when I came out the front door.  He picked it up and said - "Mom a package".  I knew immediately it was his Pocoyo book that he's been waiting for since last Friday.  When I looked at the return address, it confirmed my suspicion so I told him that it was for him.  He "squealed with delight shouting it's my Pocoyo book Mommy"!  I could hardly open it quick enough for him.  He was so excited that he needed to call his Daddy at work.

It totally warmed my heart to see his reaction making my day even better!

I remember being a little kid and my Mom bought me a Thumbalina Doll from one of the major department stores.  It was actually an "ordered" purchased that needed to be shipped via UPS.  I remember when the UPS driver came to the door and dropped it off.  I remember being so excited!

There is nothing better than getting that "special package" delivered by the UPS/FedX/USPS person!

I'm hoping tomorrow my long awaited trees arrive and in good order!
