Timeless but not Immortal ...

I was saddened by the news of the passing of Dick Clark.

I never knew him personally, just liked that he appeared (at least what I witnessed while watching him on T.V.) to be a nice guy.  He was part of my growing up years.  Not that I was a big fan of Bandstand or other shows, but just that he represented part of my youth.  He was like a distant uncle if you will.  Knew of him but didn't know him - if you know what I mean.  All you heard though was good things about him!

When many were "picking on him and poking fun at him" because he still held tight to his New Year's Eve gig even with his speech barely understandable from a stroke - I personally thought he was a brave and inspiring person.  No matter what was being thrown at him he still gave it his all and did it with a pleasant smile.  He loved what he did and I thought it was awesome that ABC let him continue.  Shows you how much he was respected in the industry he worked in.

The biggest reason why his passing stings is Dick Clark and my Dad were the same age.  Just makes me realize even more how I need to relish the days I have with my Dad (and my Mom too).

I hope Heaven gives Mr. Clark a Rockin' Reception!

Rest in Peace Mr. Dick Clark, Rest in Peace!
