A month or so ago you all read about the lovely Robins that liked to fly themselves into my windows. I wish I could say the two Robins did this because my windows were that clean - but I'd be lying terribly. They did eventually stop or left the area - thank goodness!
Last week we were at Disney and I was walking with my family through Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom when out of no where this black bird attacks my face. Came flying in at me and started pecking at my face. I smacked it down, and must have stunned the bird and then in total anger and in pain I kicked the bird and apparently ended its life. I'm embarrassed to say that in a split moment I killed this bird - it was mostly out of pure reaction but I was afraid it would attack again. The look on the people's face around us was of total "shock". I'm not sure if it was the shock of a bird coming flying at me at mach speed and pecking at my face or the fact that I may have killed the bird.
My husband went back later and found that the bird had disappeared, not sure if the Disney ground crew scooped it up or if it was actually just stunned and flew away. I'd like to think it was just stunned and flew away, especially since now thinking back at it, the bird may have been a young bird just figuring out how to fly. When it approached me it had panicked and didn't know what to do. So now I feel horrible about reacting so violently towards this bird. Just my Mommy instinct kicked in and I felt I need to protect my young and myself.
Sorry Bird ... I guess the end of the world came a little earlier for you than expected!
