Life is So Good!

I need to view life as if I am two years old......

Today my little guy woke up with a severely congested green gooey nose!  He's had this "cold" for roughly ten days now.  Fortunately, my asthmatic child has kept his lungs well this time around.  Actually, I think its because we have a great course of treatment with his preventative medicines that have kept him feeling so well "breathing wise".

Well, the poor guy started coughing and green thick goo just poured out of his nose.  I hemmed and hawed over whether or not I wanted to drag him to one more appointment this week, but I kept hearing in the back of my head the Occupational Therapist telling me if the congestion continues for a couple of days or gets thicker and worse you really need to have him seen by his pediatrician.  So I dialed up the Clinic's phone number and low and behold my son's pediatrician actually had an opening today.  So I took him in.  He's gone to so many doctors appointments that he is a professional patient.  He says "hello" to everyone and gives them all big smiles and talks their ears off.  He waits patiently for the doctor and initiates the game of "I Spy" with me.  So much fun to play with him!

The doctor takes a good once over look at him, determines that he's heading down the road of a sinus infection and prescribes a Z-pack!  Fingers crossed this clears up the "green goo" coming out of his nose!

So upon departing from the office, my son is always allowed to pick out a sticker or two or three.  He is a huge Toy Story fanatic.  Actually, he refers to Toy Story as Woody Buzz.  So he tells the nurses assistant he wants a Woody Buzz sticker and they didn't have one on the side we were standing but that she thought there were ones on the other side.  So we snuck through and to our disappointment there were no Wood Buzz stickers left.  So of course, my son is so bummed.  So one of the nurses snuck away and found a new roll of Woody Buzz stickers and the look on my son's face and squeal that escaped his mouth was precious and priceless.  So of course the nurse gave him three stickers, Woody, Buzz and Lotso.

As we enter the main lobby of the clinic, my son shows everyone he walks passed his Woody Buzz stickers!  He then says to whomever will listen - I'm so happy Woody Buzz stickers, are you happy too?

Oh, to be a kid again - when a simple thing like Woody Buzz stickers can warm the core of your soul - and Life is so Good!

  1. That story warmed my heart, so mission accomplished. Even when your days at home suck, try to remember all the good you get to witness first-hand, which I only get to hear about second-hand.
