Lets Talk Politics

I'm not a political buff by any stretch of the imagination.  I'm not even what one would consider very knowledgeable about politics.  I actually, hate politics if the truth be told.  I spent a fair number of years post turning 18 not voting because I hated politics that much.  Found no use for stroking egos of such beasts.

Then I got old (bahh) and decided I need to maybe take notice as to why it seems our world is crumbling.  So "big of me" I know!

I guess the reason why I'm not a fan of politics is because I really hate the dissension between the two main political parties and the other not so influential sidebar political parties.  And it always seems like its a stance on one topic or another that really doesn't have a bearing on the success of our country that causes so much dissension.

For instance, I get frustrated when people say well I'm only voting for republicans because they believe in pro-life and then you have people saying I'm only voting democratic because they protect the free right of a woman.  Lets face it, the abortion issue is sort of a done deal - its a law that has been enacted for decades and its going to take a total revolution for this to change.  By the way, I don't believe in abortion as a method of birth control - but I do struggle with the idea of stripping a woman from having the right to terminate a pregnancy when the pregnancy is life threatening or if the baby will suffer greatly upon being born and will ultimately die in the end anyway.  Since there is no other way to allow termination based on medical necessity without someone calling foul/slippery slope - then the law as it is stated is really the only way to allow termination under extreme medical necessity.  Which is why it will take an act of God to ever overturn it.  Again, I could not and would not terminate a pregnancy - just not something I believe in.  This is one of the reasons why I'm not a republican or a democrat - I'm party neutral.  I pick the candidate that I think will do the best job and hope in the end that I  made the right choice.

I humbly admit I voted for President Obama.  After 8 years of republican rule and seeing how our economic situation crashed and the whole Iraq war, I felt our country needed some new blood in the highest office.  I probably would have voted for Hillary Clinton (and I'm so not a Clinton fan) had she been the democratic pick.  I just couldn't stomach John McCain and Sarah Palin.  I didn't like their game plan.  Barack Obama was really the lesser of two evils.  Given the state of the economy and the political environment, I felt he had a better chance of getting some things done.  It was a very simple reason that I voted for him, I felt we needed a change and a new perspective.  I sort of feel a little cheated today - like we didn't get what was promised.  So I am interested in seeing what "political bugs" crawl out from under their political rocks to campaign for the next presidential election.

But I guess the point of this blog boils down to something that really bugged me the other day.  This huge bug that crawled out of his swanky rock - Donald Trump.  First off, he in my humble opinion is in no way shape or form qualified to run for president.  He's been in and out of bankruptcy - seems to me he just knows how to play the game, but not good at holding to a budget.  Can we afford to have someone in the highest office running our country when he continues to jump in and out of bankruptcy? I don't think so.  Again, I get off track - but the thing that burned my beans was that Trump has the audacity to challenge President Obama's United States Citizenship status.  Why now??  The man has run our country for the last 2 1/2 years - so why do you now challenge his citizenship?  Besides, do you think him being a citizen is going to either make or break his presidency at this point?  The answer is NO.  So thank you Mr. Jackass Trump for wasting the President's time pacifying your request to drum up his birth certificate.  I really think Mr. Obama's time would be better spent figuring out how to help keep gasoline prices down - so as not to throw the whole economic situation deeper into the gutter.

The only reason why Trump is digging this citizenship thing up is because he has no platform, no experience and he's just a plain ass!

So that's my political chat for the day.  Come on republicans lets find a really good candidate this time!
