I just had to post about our recent dining experience at the Outback Steakhouse.
My son requires a "gluten free" diet and the Outback is one of few chain restaurants that accommodate for such a "dietary" need. The children's menu was pretty rich with "yummy" food that a two year old might attempt to eat. In our case, BBQ ribs was the meal of choice. Since my son can't eat "breads" we asked for raw carrots and ranch dressing. The bowl of carrots and dressing was not only appealing but grand. My son had a feast with the carrots while the rest of us pigged out on bread until our meals arrived.
Then if that couldn't be fabulous enough, we ordered "ice cream" sundaes for the kids. The waiter was kind enough to double check to make sure that the "fudge" topping was indeed gluten free. If not, he had planned to return with a new bowl of just ice cream!
My meal was yummy too. Given that I'm Catholic and observe the "no meat on Friday during Lent" - I was able to eat salmon (one of the few fish dishes I'll eat) while the rest of the group feasted on steaks!
It was a great first "gluten free" excursion! Thank you Outback for making this a pleasurable experience!
