Okay, maybe it's just amazing to me but I thought it was really cool and worth sharing.
I was over my parent's house and they always seem to have a plethora (ooohhh big word) of nature things going on around their home, yard. Today was no different.
As I was standing outside on the deck a huge bee came buzzing by. And when I say big, I mean he was the grand-daddy of bees big.
He's at the very center of the picture! |
Typically I run like a freak when I'm near bees, but this bee buzzed within a few feet of me and just sort of held steady and then zoomed off as quick as can be after another bug, a Wasp actually. Apparently, this bee finds my parent's home to be his "castle" and evidentially his personal domain, and other bugs are highly discouraged to enter his compound. He continued to do this while I was there, he went from the front of the house to the back of the house warding off intruders. Every time he shooed a bug away he'd come back within feet of me and look at me as if to say "I did that for you ma'am!" Of course I'm thinking - what a chivalrous little creature!
It was super cool to watch and I actually was grateful for him because he did manage to shoo away several wasps so we could sit outside on the deck without worrying about getting stung.
Thank you my little chivalrous King Bee! You made me feel like the Queen Bee today!
