Going to the Dentist ...

This month is Dentist month in my house.  All 4 of us have an appointment this glorious month of February.

I was first in the line-up.  I can't tell you how much I love going to the dentist.  When most people like massages and facials and pedicures, etc.  I much prefer getting my teeth cleaned at the dentist.  Call me silly, insane or kooky - but there is something about the massaging of the gums that is just so relaxing.  Then cap it off with a nice clean minty polish! - pure heavenly bliss!  I always hated eating after getting my teeth cleaned too because I didn't want to mess up that sparkly clean feeling!  I disliked the fact that I had to wait 6 months to go again because insurance only lets you go twice a year.

I took Donovan 2 weeks ago and that was a bust.  The kid cried.  I had no earthly idea why he'd cry because he was missing out on the best thing that would ever happen to his teeth.  I was able to get him to sit in the chair, open his mouth and the dentist counted his pearlies!  Good to know they all were there and appear at a quick glance to be in good condition!  He, however, did not baulk at the treasure drawer!

Norah has been waiting for weeks to go to the dentist.  She apparently has my "genes" - and especially that one particular gene that LOVES to go to the dentist!  She told the receptionist that she had been waiting forever to get here.  She couldn't wait!  Then we had to wait in the waiting room for a bit because we were a little early.  She complained that we had to wait too long and wanted to know when they'd call her back.  The wait was killing her.  She, like me sighed when the first scrape crossed her teeth.  She was in that heavenly blissful state of teeth cleaning euphoria!  Then the final touch of polishing with bubble gum toothpaste and life couldn't get any better!  I BEAMED WITH PRIDE!  I am so happy to have one child that loves going to the dentist as much as I do!

Jon ... we won't even talk about him.  Suffice it to say he's a BIG BABY when it comes to the dentist.  I think Donovan is all Daddy!

  1. I'm with you - I love having my teeth cleaned. Our insurance is to a total amount so if I skimp elsewhere I can go to the dentist every 4 months. Sigh. My two sit pretty well through it. We have a stuffed hippo with a mouth that opens. Hippo gets his teeth checked the same time Lauren does. We're not so lucky teeth wise for Lauren - already had three fillings and more to come as her enamel has "flaws" that have nothing to do with brushing.
