I'm not sure why I'm amazed at how much my kids love and respect each other.
I just have to share this story because it is so stinkin' sweet!
This morning I dropped my daughter off at school. My son, who is now potty trained, claimed he had to go potty so I had to drag him out of the car to take him into the school building as he was wearing "big boy underwear" and I certainly didn't want an accident in my car.
My daughter decides to wait for us while we were in the restroom. When finished, she wanted us to walk her to her classroom. Once we were near her classroom she hugs and kisses her brother and then me. I'm wondering if I should feel "slighted" that I was second in the hug & kiss receiving line.
Anyway, my son says to his sister, "I'm going to miss you Norah". She turns around and says: "I'm going to miss you Donovan!" Then she asks him if he wants another hug and kiss, and he, of course, says: "YES". So she runs back and gives him a big hug and kiss.
My daughter than turns to me and asks "Mom, when Donovan goes to kindergarten will I be in second grade?" I sighed, because yes, Donovan should be in kindergarten when Norah is in second grade but we made the decision to hold him back next year in preschool (repeat it) so that he'll be a year older when starting kindergarten. I told her I didn't think so - she said "darn, because if he was in kindergarten when I was in second grade we'd have recess at the same time and we could play together!"
How stinkin' cute is that???
My brother wanted nothing to do with me when we were in grade school! Not so sure he liked having me around in high school and college either! LOL
