Good Decisions

I love it when I see the positive results from making a "good decision".

In February, my daughter, Norah was accepted at a private school.  We were looking at several schools and the one school was just a "lets see what happens" had no expectations that we'd even be able to afford it let alone my daughter getting accepted.

She did very well on the entrance exam, in fact, we were told that all the "teachers" and "administrative heads" that tested her were impressed with her and really enjoyed her.  Not surprising to me, because she really is a good child and a wonderful person to hang out with.  I often miss her when she's away all day at school.

My daughter fell in love with the school the minute she stepped foot in it.  I have to admit, I thought it was pretty cool myself.  She knew that it was a long shot, but hoped that she would get in.  After checking-out 3 other schools, we wanted her to be able to go to this private school.

Often times, when you make a "big purchase" and this is a big purchase, you second guess your decisions. I believe they call it "buyers remorse".  I did go through this a little bit before school started, but then we met the kindergarten teachers and we were immediately impressed.  My daughter LOOOOVEES school.  I say that in all seriousness.  She loves school and can't get enough of it.

She is learning so much more than I would have imagined, and so much more than she would have at this point in kindergarten in any other school.  She speaks French, and loves every minute of it.  She is learning about famous artists such as Monet!  She can tell you everything you ever wanted to know about "bats" but were afraid to ask!  She is reading and writing!  She can do relatively advanced math problems for her age!  She's only been in school since Mid-August too!

It helps that she's is a bright person, but she's a hard worker too.

Thursday, we had the pleasure of having "parent/teacher conferences" and when a teacher tells you that she was so looking forward to Norah's conference (actually meeting with us to discuss Norah) the most - made me beam with pride.  We were told that Norah is not only bright with intelligence, but she's also bright with personality and gifted with a very kind heart!

The teacher believes that things come "naturally" for Norah education wise, but she doesn't realize it and works really really hard at doing the best that she can!

When Jon and I walked out of the school Thursday - we both looked at each other and smiled.  We both agreed that we made the right decision for Norah and hopefully, we'll be able to allow her to continue at this school for the duration of her education!
