New Boots

It's that time of year ... when parents have to do the dreaded back to school shopping.  Knowing that several hundreds of dollars is going to be swallowed up by clothing and school supplies.

This is a new era of parenthood for my husband and I.  In 9 days my daughter will be starting kindergarden.  She's so very excited about this and asks me at least 3 times a day how many days are left before school starts.  Not sure why she thinks the number will change during one whole day, but I guess the concept of time hasn't quite clicked in!

So we did the dutiful shopping for new clothing for my daughter.  Something quite new for me since I went to Catholic Schools during my formidable years and wore uniforms.  Not much you can do with a white button down shirt!  If you seen one, you've seen them all!  I think the most I've ever gotten excited about was "shoes" because that was always "new" and different!

As I write this, I'm sort of sliding down a "scary memory lane".  I remember we even had to wear uniforms for gym class.  Isn't that the most ridiculous thing you've ever heard of?  They were these ugly light blue, one piece uniforms - much like a "one-sy" a baby wears.  In high school I think they were red with white stripes.  Really, not sure why a plain white t-shirt and a pair of shorts wouldn't do.

Since my daughter is going to a private school, they do have guidelines.  Fortunately, the guidelines fall under my personal guidelines and my daughter isn't of the age where she's asserting her "fashion" inappropriately just yet.  Although I see signs of this coming in the not too far distant future.  I'm going to be wishing she wore a uniform!  Especially since Saturday, while shopping she says to my husband - "I bet the boys will like me in this dress".  Fortunately, the dress is a very tastefully, 5-year old dress, but still - we're talking about "boys" already.  E-gads! Not ready, not ready!

We managed to purchase enough "Fall" clothing to get her by for hopefully the whole season of "Fall", unless she has another growth spurt.  So while looking through her new wardrobe and showing my Mom (her Grandma) what she got - the item that she was so excited about were these boots!

I have to admit, I was a bit "jealous" that she had these swanky jump in the puddle boots.  I always wanted a pair of these myself.  So I was excited that she was encouraged to have "boots" for their outside activities.   The best part is that the "boots" had a matching "raincoat" and we thought she'd probably need the coat if she needed the boots for outside adventure days!

Again, I am so jealous of her matching rain gear ensemble and will have to see if I can find me a matching ensemble too.

I know a little brother who was interested in this pair of boots too.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to find a gender appropriate pair for him too.
