Well …
Murph did not leave my house like I had hoped. He did a disappearing act for most of Friday, and we had thought he had disappeared. Donovan's fever had come down to a very low grade one without medicine so we felt he was on the upswing as far as getting better.
We decided to go to Twilight at the Zoo feeling like things were manageable. My Fairy Godmom is in town and she offered to be the back-up so that we could go. We really didn't want to eat $150 in tickets to the event and we had two couple friends that we were going out with. This is rare for us to have an evening out with friends so I was feeling quite bummed that we'd have to cancel. My Fairy Godmom felt it was important for Jon and I to go out. I love my cousin Sue more than she'll ever know! She has a heart bigger than herself and probably one of, if not, the most giving individuals I've ever met. Filing this away as a lesson learned on how to be a better person, she's truly an example I would like to follow!
Anyway, our neighborhood babysitter came to watch the kids. We gave her a list of phone numbers to call. Explained that Donovan's fever was still a low grade fever but sometimes at night it will spike. That my cousin offered to be the "emergency" contact. I felt things were okay, until - Norah says to me, Mom, I feel really hot. I touched her forehead and she did feel warm to me. I got the ear probe thermometer and sure as you know it she had a low grade fever too. We gave her some medicine asked the babysitter if she was still okay with babysitting and she said sure. We told her to call us if there was a problem and to send the kids to bed early so maybe they'd feel better after a good night's rest.
We went to Twilight at the Zoo and had a wonderful time with our friends. And just as we were walking towards the exit we get the call that Donovan was crying he wanted me, he felt warm and the babysitter had called her mom over to help her out until my cousin Sue could make it to the house. The good news is that our evening wasn't cut short, the bad news is that it appeared that Murphy hadn't left my home.
So while we were out, Murph decided to have a party at my house. He rocked it out pretty hard too, leaving Donovan with a medium fever and him threw-up all over his bed. Norah's fever started to climb and she complained of a really bad sore throat.
Damn you Murphy! What does it take for you to leave???
Sorry Murphy is still there but good for you sticking it to him for the night!
